Sue Huss, whose leadership and service touched countless lives, passed away unexpectedly, leaving a profound sense of loss among those who worked alongside her and benefited from her unwavering commitment to emergency care. Known for her compassion, strength, and calm under pressure, Sue served the Tonica Ambulance Service with distinction, not only as a skilled provider but also as a mentor, friend, and guiding light for the department.

As EMS Director, Sue was a cornerstone of the organization—respected for her expertise and admired for her dedication to her team and her community. Her steady leadership and heartfelt service were integral to the department’s mission and deeply appreciated by everyone who had the privilege to know her.


“The void left by Sue’s passing is immeasurable,” the Tonica Fire Department shared in a public statement. “She was more than a colleague—she was family. Her influence will remain with us in every life she touched, every call she responded to, and every paramedic she helped guide.”

In addition to her role in emergency medical services, Sue Huss was a symbol of reliability and kindness in Tonica.
