MEMPHIS, TN — An 18-year-old has been killed and two others injured following a shooting Saturday night in the parking lot of Cache 42, a popular venue located in the 4200 block of Hackberry Road.
The victim has been identified as Cornelius Otis Jr., whose tragic death has left his family, friends, and community grieving.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies responded to the scene just after 10 p.m. on June 7 after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, officers discovered multiple shell casings scattered throughout the parking lot, indicating a chaotic and violent confrontation.
Authorities learned that three victims — two men, ages 19 and 16, and Cornelius, 18 — had been transported by private vehicles to local hospitals. The 19- and 16-year-old victims were taken to Germantown Methodist Hospital with non-critical injuries.
Cornelius was rushed to Regional One Health in critical condition, but despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead. His passing has prompted an active homicide investigation by the SCSO.
