An autopsy report released Tuesday revealed that Ellieana Peyton, born on March 4, died on March 31 at the hospital due to a congenital heart defect complicated by blunt force head injuries.

The report stated that the injuries were caused by a fall from a crib.

Mackenzie Peyton, Ellieana’s mother, shared that she was informed the nurse caring for her daughter had kept the monitor cords in her pocket.

The nurse went to walk away and baby Ellieana was dragged from her crib, Mackenzie said.

Mackenzie added that her family experiences both good and bad days, but the pain of losing her daughter remains.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital shared a statement with ABC 6 that reads, “Due to patient privacy, we are unable to provide information about specific patients.”
