The Nelson County emergency services community is mourning the tragic loss of Wesley “Wes” Raymond England, a veteran critical care paramedic who died on Monday, June 2, 2025, following a line-of-duty incident. He was 41.
England passed away at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by friends and family. He was a dedicated public servant whose life was defined by helping others—whether through emergency medical care, firefighting, or law enforcement.
Known for his compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to service, England was a respected member of the Nelson County EMS team. Colleagues say he brought both skill and heart to his work, often going above and beyond to care for those in crisis.
“Wes wasn’t just a paramedic—he was a lifesaver, a friend, and a father figure to many,” said one fellow responder. “He lived to serve his community, and he died doing what he loved.”
A native of Hardyville and resident of Tompkinsville, England, he was also a registered organ and tissue donor. In his final act of service, he was able to help as many as 170 people through his donation—a legacy of life even in death.
England is survived by his daughter, Hailey England (Logan Grider), and his son, Gage England, both of Hardyville, KY. He is also survived by his parents, Jake and Sandy England and Bobbie Bryant Deckard (Albert Eudy); three sisters, Blakley Hollinsworth (Logan), Kathy Timm, and Kristal Franklin; four brothers, Adam Napper, Jeremy England (Jamie), Jesse England, and Chance England (Holli); his EMS partner, Nate Hornback; his former wife of 18 years and mother of his children, Katrina England; and a large extended family of relatives, coworkers, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Dorothy England, and his maternal grandparents, Curt Bryant and Clara Murrey.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM CST at The Way Church in Horse Cave, KY. A Celebration of Life with professional honors will follow at 6:00 PM CST.
