The Barbados Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation following the discovery of the lifeless body of a male in the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025, in the car park of the Abundant Life Assembly at Bank Hall, St. Michael.

The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Daron Devere Elias, a resident of Long Gap, Spooners Hill, St. Michael. According to a statement released by the police, the Operations Control Room received a distressing call at approximately 12:04 a.m. reporting a man lying motionless in the church car park.

Officers from the District ‘A’ Station promptly responded and, upon arrival, discovered Elias’s body with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene and confirmed there were no signs of life.

A medical doctor subsequently pronounced him dead at the location. The discovery of Elias’s body has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing sorrow and disbelief over the violent circumstances surrounding his death.

The location of the incident—outside a well-known place of worship—has only deepened the sense of unease and concern among residents. Although the police have yet to disclose any details regarding a possible motive or suspect, they have assured the public that all efforts are being made to solve the case.

Forensic teams were seen combing the area for evidence well into the morning hours on Saturday, and investigators have been conducting interviews with individuals who may have been in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

In their official release, the Barbados Police Service stated:

“Police at District ‘A’ Station are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the unnatural death of a male, whose body was discovered in the car park of Abundant Life Assembly located at Bank Hall, St. Michael on Saturday 31st May, 2025.

The police at the Operations Control Room received a report about 12:04 am of a man lying motionless in the car park. Police responded and on their arrival, they saw the body of a male with what appeared to be several stab wounds.

Personnel from the Ambulance Service were summoned, examined the body and found no signs of life. A Medical Doctor visited the scene and pronounced death.”
The victim, Daron Elias, has been described by those who knew him as a quiet and respectful individual. Although he lived a relatively private life, his sudden and tragic death has left family members and friends devastated. As investigators continue to pursue leads, the community has come together in support of the Elias family, mourning a life taken far too soon.

Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may aid in the investigation. In the release, the police urged:

“Anyone who can provide any information that can assist with these investigations is asked to call the District ‘A’ Police Station at 430-7242 or 430-7246, Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1800-TIPS (8477), or the nearest Police Station.”
As the investigation continues, Barbados Police have reaffirmed their commitment to bringing those responsible to justice. The tragic death of Daron Devere Elias has highlighted ongoing concerns about violence in local communities and the need for ongoing dialogue and action to ensure public safety.
